Saturday and Sunday temperatures were in the 70's. I could not waste the opportunity to ride. I rode to Elk Grove on Saturday and through Schaumburg for a little over an hour. I saw many Harley's, Suzuki's and Honda motorcycles, both cruisers and sport bikes. It seemed like heaven. I consider this weather a gift. Soon snow will envelop Northern Illinois. This weather reminds me of San Diego. If only our warm spell could continue.
On Sunday, I rode out to Union Illinois and passed by the Illinois Railway Museum. I took Illinois route 62 to Huntley and headed south to Big Timber Road. From there I connected with Route 20 and rode to Union.
I explored many back roads around Union. I went for miles and never passed another vehicle. It was majestic! My Suzuki handled very well and gave me a smooth-trouble free ride.
As usual most riders are safe. However two motorcyclists on Big Timber crossed the double yellow at great speed to get around a tractor. They did this on a blind curve. This gives motorcycling a bad name! Many individuals in cars witnessed this stunt. This can be a great sport if done in a safe manner!
This is a chronicle of my experience in motorcycling: How I got a license, made my initial purchase, and some of the adventures I have had in the last six years. Car shows, Drag Racing, and a few train pictures are also featured.

Beautiful Fall Day
Fall weather has not been friendly to motorcyclists in Northern Illinois. Early October was littered with cold and rain. I had to grab the first opportunity to ride last Sunday. I prepared by layering my clothing, putting on a balaclava, neck fleece and insulated jacket. Before each ride I check tire pressure, wipe the bike down, check fluids and do a visual inspection.
After a short warm up, I started for my destination some thirty miles away. Sun shown brightly on a brisk 44 degree morning. I was undertaking a thirty mile trip to Woodstock Illinois and All Seasons Farm to visit Friends who operate it.
The ride along Illinois 62 was smooth, I passed through Barrington Hills, Algonquin, Lake in the Hills and Huntley. In Huntley I switched to route 47 and headed north to 176. On 47 I only saw three motorcyclists passing in the opposite direction. This is unusual because 47 is a direct route to Lake Geneva Wisconsin. When I reached 176 I headed west to the farm. After about three miles, I arrived. Business was good, many families were preparing to enter the orchards and pick apples. Rides for children were busy. Pony rides looked like a favorite destination for many. The apple cannon experience was fun too. You load apples into PVC tubes connected to air-pressure and when the all clear is sounded, you fire at a target about 200 feet away. Great fun!
Patrons at All Seasons Farm board wagons that take them for a short ride to the orchards. They disembark and pick apples for a nominal charge. Later they return to the main building for available refreshments. A shop sells homemade deserts, hamburgers, hot dogs, donuts and a selection of healthy sandwiches. Jellies, jams, peanut brittle, and crafts are available for purchase. This is a nice one day trip for a family.

May 23rd-Three Days of Motorcycling
David arrived last night from San Diego for the Memorial Day Weekend. What to do! Well we absolutely need one more motorcycle. Dan rented a Buell from a nearby Harley Davidson Dealer. He decided to ride it himself and let David ride his Suzuki Hyabusa (David has a Hyabusa in San Diego).
They picked up the rental on Saturday morning and by early afternoon, we were ready to ride. It was great. You see, ever since I watched American Chopper, I wanted to ride with my boys like Paul Teuttel. I rode my Suzuki C50 over to Dan's. The boys put on their Joe Rocket Jackets, Helmets, gloves and we were on our way. With Dan in the lead, a beautiful seventy degree sunny day in front of us, we toured the back roads of Lake County Illinois. There were many sights along the way including the famous Broken Oar Bar. As we passed the bar noticed hundreds of motorcycles in their lot. During our two hour ride, traffic was light, the road smooth, and scenery pristine. The Buell had a good engine and performed well for the entire weekend.
On Sunday, we rode out to Algonquin Illinois and took River Road along the Fox River. Boaters were everywhere. After about five miles we arrived in Fox River Grove. We took route 22 east to Old Barrington Road and traveled down Cuba Road. At route 14 we headed west to pine tree and down Roberts road past many of Barrington's famous horse farms. At Lake Cook Road we headed west and turned north on Old Sutton Road, motored through South Barrington and back to my house.A nice two hour ride.
